ARTIST STATEMENT

My art is like driving around a foreign country. I get lost but what I’m seeing is so beautiful that I keep going. Time passes and the landscape changes with the light. I become uneasy because I begin to see junkyards and graveyards but somehow the beauty that I found earlier is worth the fear I have now. I ride around for hours looking for a way to get home and I do. My little ride had become a journey!

Each one of my paintings is an abstracted journey. I go through all of these changes only I’m standing in front of a blank canvas on an easel. Moment to moment I move my brush from pallet to canvas and back, excited, trusting, doubting, purposeful and ever present. I use everything I have to find the right pieces that will come together and become a work of art.
